Produce Rx

What is a produce prescription program? Put simply, a produce prescription program sees food as medicine, and allows doctors to "prescribe" fruits and vegetables to their patients. These prescriptions can take different forms, such as redeemable vouchers, subscription services or boxes of produce at designated locations. Currently Grove Park does not have a produce prescription program, but we're hoping to build one soon! Take a look at our project timeline.

Scroll down to see the major benefits of produce prescription programs, and how we hope our produce prescription program will look in the future!

How it works

One of the great things about produce prescription programs is that they are simple and straightforward! See the basic parts of the produce prescription process below.

*Remember, Grove Park Produce Rx is a work in progress. We have a long way to go to build this program. Click here if you can get involved by providing input or advocacy!

To the right is a diagram of how a Produce Prescription Program works behind the scenes. All Produce Prescription Programs are a collaboration between the community, its healthcare providers, and produce providers.
*Although the Grove Park Foundation is currently leading the advocacy for a Produce Prescription Program, and will support its partnerships, it will not be responsible for managing nor funding the partnership.
